In the world of wellness and nutrition, Tanya’s journey took an unexpected turn when she stumbled upon an idea that would revolutionize the way dietitians and nutritionists experience their vacations. Inspired by her own less-than-ideal encounter, Tanya envisioned a unique opportunity that combined her love for travel, education, and wellness. Thus, the concept of “Dietitians on Vacation” was born, a unique opportunity for registered dietitians (RDs) to travel while working on important skills like public speaking.

The vision behind “Dietitians on Vacation” was simple yet powerful: to offer a win-win situation for both professionals and resorts. Here’s how it works:
Nutrition Education: During their stay, RDs provide valuable nutrition education for guests, covering all things general wellness and healthy eating habits.
Discounted Stays: In return, these professionals receive discounted or complimentary stays at the resort. It’s a mutually beneficial arrangement that allows them to recharge while sharing their knowledge.
Short-Term Commitment: Unlike long-term positions, “Dietitians on Vacation” programs last only 1 to 2 weeks. This flexibility appeals to professionals who want to combine work and leisure without a long-term commitment.
When Tanya floated the idea to me, an aspiring RD completing my internship rotations, I was immediately intrigued. The prospect of creating a business that combined travel, education, and professional development was too exciting to pass up. Tanya asked if I would be interested in teaming up with her to start building the business.

Tanya put me in charge of designing the website, creating Instagram posts, and writing blog posts. As we spent more time putting together the business, our excitement grew. We envisioned a community of dietitians who could explore new destinations, share their expertise, and enjoy well-deserved vacations.
“Dietitians on Vacation” offers RDs the chance to lead nutrition sessions at participating resorts while receiving a discounted vacation in return. This business stands out from most traveling positions available to health professionals. Instead of requiring a 3-month (or longer) contract, “Dietitians on Vacation” allows RDs to enjoy a working vacation for just 1 to 2 weeks at a time in a beautiful and unique locale.

The idea of “Dietitians on Vacation” emerged from Tanya’s desire to create a better experience for RDs in the wellness and travel industries. With a clear mission and the support of dedicated individuals like myself, this program is set to make waves, offering new avenues for professional growth and enriching travel experiences. Tanya’s journey is a testament to how a single spark of inspiration can lead to a revolutionary concept, transforming the professional lives of dietitians and the wellness experiences of resort guests.
